Maison Duquesne exceptional 17th century house
Originally a shipowner’s house, it has withstood four centuries of history. Completely renovated this year, it must wait until next winter to regain the roof of its falconry tower.
An article in Ouest France published in 1965 and entitled “Was it the third establishment of the Compagnie des Indes?” gives a clue to the history of the house:
“The history of the La Croix district is linked to that of the Compagnie des Indes, whose headquarters were in Lorient and which was liquidated in 1770. But for the people of Concarn, its shops, facing the bay, have always remained those of the Compagnie des Indes.
Since the 17th century, when it was probably built, the house has remained intact. Does an ancient milestone, made of a single block of granite, marked with the number 3, mean that Concarneau was the third establishment of the Compagnie des Indes?
We can therefore assume that the old building, which was once enclosed in the land belonging to the Compagnie des Indes, was the residence of the governor of the Concarneau establishment.
The garden, the well and the falconer, a sign of the greatest nobility, are still there to testify to the “private” character of the building.”

The house is surrounded by a walled garden of thick granite stones in a quiet neighbourhood, though conveniently close to the center of town and the ocean.
The house has 4 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 7 adults.
The ground floor is made up of a living room with a fireplace, a century old baby grand piano Pleyel (completely tuned up this winter), a Celtic troubadour harp, a library and music partitions.

A brand new kitchen (Fridge, freezer, oven, induction cooktop, microwave…), washer/dryer.
On the first floor are 4 bedrooms, one with a 180cm bed, two with 160c m beds, one with bunk beds 90 cm, adult quality. Crib for baby available. All bedding is new (Local brand Valentin).
There is a high quality sofa bed in the living room (brand Sits).
The house has 2 bathrooms (one with a shower, one with a bathtub) and 3 toilets.
Anytime of the day, the enclosed private garden (in front and in back of the house) allows for gatherings with friends and family for drinks and food.
